Being the site of historical significance, Haldighati marks the great battle of 1576 among Rana Pratap Singh and Raja Mansingh. Maharana Pratap’s horse Chetak played a prominent role in the Battle of Haldighati. Chetak was fatally wounded in this battle and died on 18 June 1576. Maharana Pratap built a small monument for his horse at the place where Chetak fell down. The commemoration still exists at Haldighati. It is believed that the name ‘Haldighati’ originated from turmeric (haldi) coloured yellow soil of the area.
It is also known for Mud art of Molela and for its charity rose products.
